The Williamston Garden Club is proud to once again sponsor the Smokey Bear and Woodsy Owl Poster Contest for students in 1st through 5th grade. Every year, students learn about graphic design and how to create a strong message through images and words, then if they wish, they can enter their poster into the local contest. The Garden Club hosts this annual contest which is voluntary opportunity for students.
Coming home soon will be your artist's poster, a letter for families, as well as a sticker entry form on the back of the poster. All posters are due Thursday, November 15, 2018. They can be dropped off at either office or the art room. This year:
1st graders are focusing on Smokey Bear
2nd graders are focusing on Woodsy Owl
3rd graders are given a choice of Smokey Bear or Woodsy Owl
4th & 5th graders are given a choice of Smokey Bear, Woodsy Owl, or NEW this year a Recycled Sculpture, hosted by the Garden Club.
First Annual Recycled Sculpture - 4th and 5th graders are given the choice to try and create a sculpture completely out of recycled materials. Students are creating their sculpture in art class and if they decide can leave it for judging. Judging will take by a local artist. Once the judging is complete, there will be a 1st, 2nd, 3rd places awarded along with Honorable Mention. Judging will take place in November.
