This year, 4th and 5th graders were given the opportunity to participate in the Youth Sculpture Contest which is sponsored by the Williamston Red Cedar Garden Club. I want to THANK the garden club for sponsor this experience for our students. The contest rules state the sculpture must be made out of recycled materials. Students used a variety of recycled materials such as caps, lids, straws, cards, tubes and other assorted treasures to create their sculptures. The results speak for themselves. We had over 100 students participate and over 50 chose to leave their sculptures to be judged by two local artists. I am pleased ad proud to announce the 2018 winners below. 1st Place finishers will have their sculpture entered into the state competition. The winning sculptures will be on display in the Explorer office so be sure to check them out.
